Feeding Geese

Geese and ducks have full run of our town creek. Children love to interact with them. There are always the brave who will venture close to take what is offered from their hand. Signs give suggestions for the kind of treats that is best for the birds.

After an hour or so the children come away talking and laughing about the different personalities. Some are bossy, some are afraid. Some honk loudly. Most have learned to trust little people and put on quite a show. 

I am always touched by the way the children lose all concern for themselves. They concentrate on each goose, luring it closer. Brother and sister share the experience as memories are made.
